Hey Minneapolis, Fall has arrived and the end of September is here. I’m not sure about you guys, but I wasn’t sure if I’d survive September. This month has been one of the busiest of the season. September has taken the top of the cake in Wedding season being one of the busiest months of the year.
September started off with back to school and as a parent I did a huge sigh of relief. I was hoping that back to school would bring some peace to the house but lets face it that’s for boring people and I am anything but boring. my weekends have been filled with weddings from Downtown Minneapolis to Millie Lacs Lake.
I’ve been a traveling gypsy hairstylist each weekend and back to the city for weekdays at Kuva Uptown Salon. Mid month I brought my sweet daughter into Kuva located off Hennepin Ave. just south of Lake St, and gave her a fresh look sporting Fashion colors for her classic bob.
Being the kid of a hairstylist spoils you!
I also got to do a vintage hairstyle for the lovely Aria Arcana who is a burlesque dancer with ExperTease in NorthEast. I’ve been following her for quite some time and I just had to meet her. I messaged her to let her know i would love to style her hair sometime and what do you know she was in need of a 1940’s glam look for a vintage Pinups shoot she had coming up. Well, I signed right up. Needless to say she came out looking fabulous.
Check her out on Facebook to see the photos.
Last weekend had to be the craziest of the entire month with two weddings and the St. Paul wedding expo in tow. Fridays wedding went off with out a snag. The entire bridal party coming into Kuva Uptown Salon for hair and makeup. All of the girls being natural beauties it made my life easier and with a touch of eucalyptus and lavender in those elegant updos and they were off to the chapel with style to be remembered by.
Saturday began at an early 5am alarm clock to the largest Bridal party of the year with sixteen girls and a flowergirl. Scarlett and I decided that this team needed an assistant, so we called up Elle Kulzer to be our assistant for the day. Elle has helped with a few of our weddings before being an extremely talented makeup artist. She is becoming a regular member of our team. We were glad to have her Saturday with seventeen heads to style and a time crunch of four hours. I’m proud to say we finished with ten minutes to spare and left the room with a group of beautiful ladies.
The weekend was far from over, so we took the afternoon to get a bit of fresh air down at Stone Arch Bridge. It truly is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis and a favorite photo spot for many.
We indulged in some mini donuts and took a scooter ride along the river side. Feeling slightly rejuvenated we hit the Wedding Guys Wedding Expo in St. Paul at the River Center. The expos are such a fun place to meet brides in person and get to know them a bit better. I will be pulling our drawing winner on Tuesday this coming week. Feel free to tune in to Gypsy Hair Guru at Kuva on Facebook to hear who the winner will be. We are giving away $100 off a Bridal Package.
So this weekend is the Grand Finally for September with the RippleMN fashion Show in Alexandria. I’ll be packing my bags and heading up North to lead Hair and Makeup for the annual fashion week in my home town.
This year has a 70’s flare fashion brought to us by the Alexandria downtown vendors. RippleMN was founded by Shannon Berns to raise money for a scholarship for women going into wellness careers. The Fashion Show is becoming the staple of this organization and shouldn’t be missed. I have brought Ms. Micheala Hippie on board this year as active makeup artist. Tickets are still available if you’re interested in seeing the show.
Well that’s kinda the wrap up on September. I’m looking forward to new adventures in October and the conclusion of wedding season. I have a few fun photo shoots planned that you will have to stay tuned for. I will also be running an October special on all vivid colors all month $25 off in honor of Halloween (my favorite day of the year.) Until next month… if you can’t wait just give me a call. See ya soon.
